When talking to Kat & Alex about this rooftop maternity photoshoot I already knew it was something that I would want to feature on my blog. Maternity photos can be put on the back burner sometimes and I don’t blame a lot of the couples who do just that. But if you’ve ever been on the fence about maternity photos… this is your sign to take the photos!
I know life is crazy, hard, and scary. Especially if you’re bringing your first child into the world. I also know that pregnancy can be TOUGH. Like… wow pregnancy is not for the faint of heart. You are literally growing life and that is so beautiful but can have so many challenges.
Kat & Alex almost didn’t get maternity photos taken. Their life was crazy and things got in the way and time slipped away but we made it work and I am SO glad we did. Talk to your photographer (aka me) about what date would work best for your maternity photos early on! That way it’s already on the calendar and you don’t have to worry about it.
Pregnancy is a fleeting moment in the grand scheme of life. We all know that life is hectic and chaotic, but I never want you to miss out on these milestones and big life changes because of the chaos. Your pregnancy is only so long so you should document it to look back on it forever. Those nine months may feel long at times, but in retrospect, they pass by quickly. When the world was just you and your partner. Or maybe it’s a maternity shoot where you’re adding another little addition to the family. And your whole world is about to change for the second, third, or fourth time.
These images can serve as a beautiful reminder of the love and anticipation that filled your heart during this special time.
You should have these photos to look back and say “Hey remember when we were only a family of two?” and now you can’t even remember how you did life without your littlest one.
And on my very last note… I want to say that I am fully aware of how hard it can be to get pregnant. The desire to have a child and having trouble conceiving is lonely, frustrating, sad, and one of the hardest damn things to ever endure. But I see you. If you’re struggling… please know you’re not alone. And I hope that maybe one day we can do a little rooftop maternity photoshoot for you.
And I am so honored to capture another milestone for these two freely + creatively + candidly… it is truly a dream. Baby Miles is so lucky to have K & A as parents and I cannot wait to meet the cool little dude that two of the most incredible humans made.
